EDUVATION SUMMIT’22 Digital Transformation in Schools
To
talk about digital transformation today, I borrow a phrase I was pleased to be
described by “the man from the future” as a clear reference to my lifelong
affinity to all products of modern technology, including digital transformation
technologies.
There is nothing better than speaking about
the blessings of digital transformation in schools and its clear effects in
enabling educational institutions at all levels, from primary through secondary
and university education, to graduate studies and even vocational education to
benefit from specialized and mature educational experiences. Digital transformation technologies also
enables schools to adhere to the highest standards of quality, and provide many
modern tools for efficient learning and engagement across digital interactive
learning platforms.
Digital Learning Technologies and Tools:
Digital Devices (laptop, tablet, mobile phone) and their role in facilitating the process of digital learning and communication through interactive learning platforms, and are offered today by Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Technology - TAGTech within a wide range of specifications according to all needs.
Digital Textbooks to enhance the learning experience, engage in more interactive participation, and strengthen the requirements for good documentation (TAG-Archive).
Online Exam Platforms, which allows transparency and speed in submitting exams and obtaining results (TAG-Online Exam).
Student Affairs & Management Systems, which helps to document student data and make use of it in the required form, and manage educational affairs such as choosing classes and scheduled material (TAG-SAMS).
Cloud Services that provide sufficient space for data storage, backup and self-synchronization, and are not limited to local resources located in educational institutions. (TAG-Cloud).
Learning Management Systems such as Talal Abu-Ghazaleh e-learning management system (TAG E-Learning).
Internet of Things (IoT) integration into the school environment to enable smart building automation solutions that provide additional security and accessibility.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions that help teachers free themselves from office tasks such as administrative work, office tasks, answering questions and inquiries and other administrative tasks. AI helps in adding some adjustments in the educational process, such as improving the student’s listening and concentration, and the ability to update the curriculum automatically and quickly.
Big data and Data Analytics solutions that aid teachers in identifying certain trends, gaps, needs and accordingly develop customized learning strategies to optimize content delivery.
Virtual/Augmented/Mixed Reality (AR/AR/MR) technologies that enhance teacher instruction while simultaneously creating immersive lessons that are fun and engaging for the student.
Smart interactive displays to deliver digital content to the future student.
High-speed Internet connectivity via 5G and soon 6G technologies.
Digital Infrastructure which includes the enhancement of computers, computer networks, database management devices, data centers and networks, enterprise portals, systems, software and services, digital cloud, telecommunications and others.
The Use of Smart Tablets, “mixed reality” applications and “smart learning stations” to encourage students to study science more effectively compared to traditional educational means.
Cyber Security solutions and software that enable safe behavior in the use of the internet by students; helps to protect systems and hacking prevention techniques.
Learning digital skills (such as the DIT Certification offered by TAG.Global).
Digital Learning platforms and applications that help the student to learn better. These platforms offer interactive digital content related to the curriculum, and offer virtual classes that simulate regular classes; also enables the student to communicate with teachers more easily.
Smart Cameras as a technological supervisor. The working of these cameras can be enhanced by artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things technologies.
Online Payment platforms for students.
The Right to Access the Internet (TAG Knowledge Centers).
Gamification or learning by playing is very common approach. Starting from kindergarten, gamification enhances student engagement by allowing student to retain subjects and/or concepts permanently. It is also possible to take advantage of electronic tools that provide specially prepared forms for these purposes.
Digital Learning Policies and Strategies:
Articulate clear policies that can be formulated within legislation or international agreements guaranteeing the right to target groups in the field of technology-based learning.
Achieving the Principle of Equality in the technological empowerment of Arab countries by international organizations and communities as part of their donor and funding capacities.
Creating a Framework for evaluating academic institutions by evaluating the integration of education with technology, the outcomes of which would be the development of accreditation standards for academic institutions, such as the number of academics and/or digital transformation techniques required for every one hundred students, for example.
Continuous Review of Legislation and curricula to ensure that digital transformation applications and critical thinking is continuously injected to enhance such legislations.
Digital Citizenship Education:
Internet-based User-Identity verification
Privacy protection techniques
Tackling cyberbullying awareness programs
Respecting Copyright laws
Digital footprint management programs
Providing Training Programs related to artificial intelligence skills, including identifying training needs, preparing training courses, and evaluating the trainer and trainee.
Creation of Interactive Digital Content.
The Use of Digital and Interactive Games to enhance student participation.
Providing Digital Access to a variety of topics that cater to specific categories of students according to age and abilities.
Training within Education in schools so that we equip our young people with digital skills in a way that ensures the integration of digital skills and academic education. And the efforts made should be covered by accredited certificates that enhance the professional and academic path.
Providing a Distance Learning System, where the school provides educational and training programs on computers to guide their targets from their positions and gradually integrate e-learning technologies with traditional learning to prepare learners.
Promoting the Commercial Nature of transforming patents into commercial products as relates to digital transformation technologies.
Giving the Teacher the status of a Technical Adviser/Mentor to get rid of the status of indoctrination in education while ensuring that innovation is linked to educational processes with focus on enhancing research skills in a way that ensures the adoption of a technical mentor instead of the tutor, and the innovative digital human instead of a learned human.
Learning of Programming and Digital Solutions should be imposed as a basic requirement in the early stages of education, to become part of the evaluation processes for the outcomes of each learning stage, and a criterion for evaluating academics in the same sector.
The Goal of Education should be to Innovate and not just to memorize information. (Model adopted by TAGUCI).
Making Human Knowledge Available to everyone digitally and free of charge as much as possible.
