The IASCA was established as a non-profit professional accounting body in 1984 in the United Kingdom. It was registered officially in Jordan in 1994 under the name the “Arab Society of Certified Accountants”. It is a professional Arab society that aims to establish standards of accounting, audit, and build the capacities through internationally recognized educational and qualification programs. The idea of establishing the Society was suggested by a number of leaders in the accounting profession in the Arab world, with the aim of advancing the science of accounting, auditing, and other related subjects across member states of the League of Arab States. It also aims to maintain the professional independence of accountants, ensure their protection, and apply professional supervision standards to them as a means of advancing the accounting and auditing professions. It also aims to develop and facilitate the continuous sharing and exchange of scientific and technical information between accountants and professionals by holding conferences, meetings, seminars, training courses, and scientific meetings, in addition to encouraging scientific and professional research.
