AKMS to implement the 'Arab Certified Quality Manager' Program in Libya
The Arab Knowledge and Management Society (AKMS) has recently signed a cooperation agreement with the Center for Quality Consultancy and Engineering in Libya to implement the Arab Certified Quality Manager Program in Libya and Jordan. The first session of the program is expected to be held in Jordan during the first quarter of this year.
Launched by AKMS, the Arab Certified Quality Manager Program aims to provide participants with the knowledge necessary to carry out effective quality practices in the field of quality and to implement strategies to solve them, as well as developing and promoting research and applications of quality principles and practices.
The Program consists of (88) accredited training hours covering seven specialized subjects in several areas, most important of which are the basics of total quality management tools, basic concepts of leadership and personnel management, strategic planning in quality management, capacity building, customer focus for excellence in business and supply chain management, noting that the Program is available in both Arabic and English.
It is worth mentioning that the 'Arab Certified Quality Manager' Program provides a professional certificate accredited by the British Quality Institute 'Chartered Quality Institute (CQI)' which aims at making quality the core target of each institution.
CQI is a statutory body for professional quality management, founded in 1919.
The certificate is also accredited by the 'Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM)' which aims at developing the capabilities of managers and leaders in all parts of the world through the provision of specialized qualifications and diversified educational resources.

The Program is arranged to take place in several Arab cities to activate its role and activities throughout the Arab world in line with the strategies of AKMS to render the highest levels of knowledge and to develop the Arab administrative capabilities.

Abu-Ghazaleh named Arab ICT Personality of the Year

MANAMA - January 28, 2010 - HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chair of the UN Global Alliance for ICT and Development (GAID), addressed the opening ceremony of the MENA ICT Week 2010 held under the patronage of H.E Sheikh Ahmed bin Atiyatallah Al Khalifa, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, on January 26, 2010 in the Bahraini capital.
In his keynote speech entitled "ICT Advancement in a Changing World', HE Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh stressed the significance of ICT for the socioeconomic development process in the Arab region and for upgrading the health and education services. He said, "Online education has passed the beta stage and has entered the mainstream, while the use of the internet as an educational tool has become as essential as paper, pencil and the blackboard."
He called for the establishment of the Arab ICT Advancement Forum to be hosted by Bahrain as a platform for harmonized regional ICT development.
A statement by the Union of Arab ICT Associations (IJMA3), the organizer of the Week, welcomed HE Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh to address the Opening Ceremony, as well as to deliver the keynote speech in the Panel Session, in which he reviewed the status of the ICT sector in the Arab world, and discussed future directions and opportunities for growth.
HE Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh has also participated in the other events of the Week including the IJMA3 Annual Meeting on January 26th, and the Arab Golden Chip Awards ceremony on January 27th, during which he was granted the prestigious award of Arab ICT Personality of the Year, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the development of ICT in the Arab region and the global role he has played as the voice of Arabs at all international ICT and development forums.
The events was attended by several ICT ministers from around the MENA region, ICT experts and executives, ambassadors, and representatives of large organizations from across the MENA region and the world. It was widely covered by local and regional media agencies.

Jordan is seeking to increase its exports to China and attract new investment from China to the Kingdom, which enjoys a central geographical location in the region, and has bilateral and multilateral trade agreements that enable Jordan access new export markets, regionally and internationally.

TAG-Org will utilize all available resources to promote CIEF in the local market, assist in CFTC/CIEF promotional activities to attract prospective buyers and exhibitors, and add direct links to official websites of CIEF and CFTC on TAG-Org's website.
The agreement was signed by Mr. Luay Abu-Ghazaleh, TAG-Org's vice chairman, and Mr. Ren Xiangdong, CIEF's vice secretary general and vice chairman of CFTC, in the presence of Mr. Lai Wanzhu, cultural attaché of the Chinese Embassy in Amman.
The agreement will increase the value of trade exchange between the Kingdom and China, the second largest exporter in the world, and one of the largest trading partners of Jordan. The Jordanian-Chinese trade is estimated at about $1.8bn; however, Jordan's trade deficit with China is estimated to stand at $1.7bn.
Jordan is seeking to increase its exports to China and attract new investment from China to the Kingdom, which enjoys a central geographical location in the region, and has bilateral and multilateral trade agreements that enable Jordan access new export markets, regionally and internationally.
China Import and Export Fair also called Canton Fair was established in 1957 and held twice a year in spring and autumn. It is China's largest trade fair of the highest level, with complete varieties and extensive attendance and business turnover. Preserving its traditions, the CIEF is a comprehensive and multi-functional event of international importance. It is organized by CFTC/Ministry of Economy.
