International Arab Society of Certified Accountants Holds Workshop on Financial Technology (FinTech)
AMMAN - The International Arab Society of Certified Accountants (IASCA) held a specialized workshop on Financial Technology (FinTech) on the sidelines of its annual meetings, attended by a group of members of the Board of Directors and Society representatives, in addition to an elite of professionals and specialists in accounting, finance, and technology.
The workshop addressed the concept of Financial Technology (FinTech), its key applications, and rapid developments, while also examining its growing impact on the financial and banking sectors and the accounting profession. Discussions highlighted the transformations that FinTech is bringing to the nature of financial services, working methods, and the skills required in the labor market.
In this context, HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of the Society, emphasized that Financial Technology (FinTech) is no longer merely a technological development within the financial sector, but has become one of the key drivers reshaping the future of accounting, finance, and financial services. He stressed that keeping pace with these transformations is essential for professional institutions seeking to effectively continue fulfilling their roles and responding to the evolving requirements of the labor market.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh further noted that rapid developments in FinTech, alongside Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital transformation, require accountants and professionals to continuously develop their knowledge and skills, enabling them to address new models of financial services, data, reporting, and oversight.
The workshop came as part of the IASCA’s efforts to broaden the scope of its areas of interest and keep pace with emerging developments in the accounting and finance sectors at the international level. The Society is dedicated to providing specialized professional content in accounting, translating and publishing international standards, and delivering professional training programs and courses.
Furthermore, the workshop emphasized the importance of continuously developing the capabilities of Society members and professionals, while opening new avenues for learning and training in emerging technological fields related to accounting and finance. These efforts positively contribute to enhancing their readiness to address future transformations in the profession.
Participants in the workshop underlined the importance of keeping abreast of rapid technological developments, especially in light of the growing role of financial technology, AI, and digital transformation in advancing the financial and accounting sectors, enhancing the efficiency of financial operations, improving data quality, and supporting decision-making.
It is worth mentioning that the workshop represents a first step in the Society’s direction toward exploring and developing new areas in Financial Technology and examining the possibility of integrating FinTech into its professional and training programs and initiatives. This would further strengthen its role in keeping pace with global developments and addressing the needs of professionals and the labor market.
